Best Time to Play Golf in Morocco: Month-by-Month

The best time to play golf in Morocco is October to April. Across that window, daytime temperatures on the course sit between roughly 18°C and 26°C, rain is brief and infrequent, and every championship course in the country is in peak condition. If you want the short version: March and April are the finest golfing months of the year, and October is not far behind.

That said, “best” depends on what you are optimising for. The months that give you perfect playing weather are also the months that fill the tee sheets and lift hotel rates. Below is what each part of the year actually feels like on a Moroccan course, based on the trips we book from our office in Marrakech every season.

When is the golf season in Morocco?

Morocco has no closed season. Every course stays open all year, and the phrase “golf season” really means the period when the weather is at its most comfortable for visiting golfers.

The pattern to notice is the gap between the two columns. Marrakech swings nearly 20°C across the year; Agadir barely moves. That single fact drives most of the planning advice that follows.

What are the best months for golf in Marrakech?

October to May. Marrakech sits inland at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, and its climate is genuinely continental — hot summers, mild winters, very little rain.

From late October the heat breaks and the city becomes ideal for 36 holes a day. December and January bring cool starts: expect 6–8°C at 8am, a sweater for the first three holes, then shirtsleeves by the turn. February and March deliver the greenest fairways of the year, because whatever rain Marrakech gets falls between November and March. April and May are, for many of our guests, the perfect compromise: 25–29°C, dry, with daylight until nearly 8pm.

From June the calculation changes. July and August highs of 38–40°C are normal. Golf is still very possible — the humidity is low and the heat is dry — but only at the right hour. We book 7:00–8:00am tee times through the summer, and every summer booking includes a buggy as standard.

The Marrakech golf passes work in any month, and the courses in the Platinum tier — Fairmont Royal Palm, Assoufid, Al Maaden and Royal Golf Marrakech — are all within 25 minutes of the city centre, which matters more than you would think when you are trying to be on the first tee at 7am.

Why is Agadir the best year-round golf destination?

Because the Atlantic does the air conditioning. Agadir’s daytime highs sit between 21°C and 28°C in every month of the year — the narrowest range of any golf destination in Morocco.

That makes Agadir the answer to two very different questions. In January it is the warmest reliable golf in the country, with Soleil, Ocean, Dunes and clifftop Tazegzout all playable in shirtsleeves. In July it is the only part of Morocco where a midday round is genuinely pleasant. The trade-off is wind: Atlantic courses can blow through the afternoon, particularly in spring, which is part of the fun at Tazegzout and part of the challenge at Ocean.

Month by month: what to expect

January. Cool, bright and quiet after the New Year rush. Marrakech mornings are genuinely cold; Agadir is the better choice. Green fees are at their most negotiable in the second half of the month.

February. Fairways are at their greenest and the tournament calendar picks up. Half-term weeks fill quickly, so book four to six weeks ahead.

March. Arguably the best month of the year. Warm without heat, long light, courses in tournament condition. Book early: this is when the tournament weeks and golf festivals cluster.

April. Everything March offers, plus warmer evenings. Easter week is the busiest and most expensive period of the spring — either book three months out or avoid it.

May. Warm (29°C in Marrakech), dry, and noticeably quieter than April. One of the two best-value months in the calendar.

June. The last comfortable inland month if you play early. On the coast it is perfect. Prices start to fall.

July and August. Coastal only, unless you are happy teeing off at dawn. Rates are at their lowest of the year, and Agadir hotels are excellent value.

September. The insider’s month. The inland heat starts to ease from mid-month, the sea is at its warmest, the courses are empty and the prices have not yet reset to peak-season levels.

October. The season restarts. Warm, dry, reliable — and the last month before the festive rates arrive.

November. Our own pick for value inside peak season. Peak-season weather, shoulder-season prices, and the courses are quiet on weekdays.

December. Beautiful golfing weather until around the 18th, at which point the festive rates take over. The week between Christmas and New Year is the most expensive of the year across Morocco.

When are green fees and hotels cheapest?

Prices follow the heat inland and the school holidays everywhere.

• Highest: mid-December to early January, Easter week, and half-term weeks in February and October.
• Lowest: late June through early September, when Marrakech is hot.
• Best value in peak season: November, the first half of December, and late January into early February.

Does Ramadan affect golf in Morocco?

Not on the course. Golf clubs stay open, tee times run as normal, and visiting golfers are welcome throughout.

It does change the rhythm off the course. Some restaurants adjust their opening hours, service can be quieter during the day, and the evenings become livelier after sunset. Ramadan moves roughly 11 days earlier each year — in 2027 it falls across February and March — so it will increasingly overlap with the peak golf season over the next few years. So when should you book?

Three windows, depending on what you want:

1. Best conditions: March, April or October. Book eight to twelve weeks ahead — the best tee times at Assoufid, Al Maaden and Royal Golf Dar Es Salam go first.
2. Best value with peak-season weather: November or late January. Same golf, materially lower rates.
3. Best value overall: May, June or September, and Agadir over Marrakech if you are travelling in high summer.
